I am currently reading 'Wuthering Heights' for my Year 9 Advanced English class, along with 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen, because my English teacher considered me to be well above-average. After reading the first few chapters in Volume 1, I expected the rest of the book to every bit as confusing as them, and I realised why she had assigned the book to only a few students - the range of emotions conveyed by all the characters is far beyond the reach of many, even myself. When Catherine slipped into delusion, I could feel her confusion, and her love for Heathcliff, and his intense passion for her. I can't actually say much more, becuase I haven't finished it yet, but it is undeniably one of the greatest pieces of writing I've read yet, though that might not account for much due to the fact I'm only 14... anyway.. it's a great book, albeit confusing to begin with. I recommend it so far.

The fact that some people say Wuthering Heights is boring can probably be put down to the fact that they lose track after the first couple of chapters and then make up their minds that it will always be boring after that. I had to read this book for school and I must admit that I did find the first couple of chapters a bit boring and tedious, but once past that, the book becomes absolutely fantastic. The reader becomes wrapped up in this novel of raw passion and true love. The characters in the novel, especially Cathy and Heathcliff, are so dramatic and exciting that one cannot put the book down for the sheer amount of tension built up is amazing. I was doubtful when my teacher was raving that this has to be one of the most amazing pieces of English Literature ever but, after reading this fantasic book, I must say that I agree. If you havn't already gathered, I recommend this book for anyone with any good reading taste.
