I share the library's Internet Room
With some local misfits, loners who
Cannot work in silence—they gasp,
They sing, or laugh, or babble,
Or do all these things, and cause by their gabbling
Discomposure in others, who loon-call back
By chiding, cursing, condemning, and hinting at
Brickbats and battery. As yet no fistfights
Have broken out, nor duels with épées,
Nor acts of war, but I'm thinking of wearing
A suit of armor
Next time I log onto the network there.

Do you go to the library to work? I ask because I work from home and am thinking of starting to go to the library, I don't know how common that is.

Is the clientele there really as you suggest in the poem, I can't imagine :)

I suppose the quality of the clientele depends on the library!

Do you go to work there regularly? I've heard some people who work from home do that, but I've never used the library in that way. Is that something folks do?

I don't know about others, but yes, I do research there regularly. I have tried to divest myself of all unnecessary elements in life; those include an automobile, a cell phone, and home Internet service. I'm not afraid of technology--I just see no need to pay for it if I don't truly need it.
