View Full Version : What goes in your bunker? Post a pic...

This is a new game in which you post a picture of something you would put in your bunker. A description of said thing and your reason for wanting it in your bunker should accompany it. I'll start. A compact but modern kitchen area seems sensible, complete with oven and stove top. I'm going to be down there a while, cooking healthy food is a must:

For bunkers with a small kitchen corner:

So one can survive on sandwiches and stored chocolate:

For peacfull, sunny hours in front of the bunker I store:

and for defense that cute lantern which imitates the noise of a police-car siren. It will keep raiders away (at least the police fearing ones)
And of course the bunker has to have wi-fi for my PC and a stack of favorite books.

Donīt know how to upload images directly. TC, I think your niece will enjoy her present!

Thank you, Danik, that was the kind of suggestion I was hoping for. Your suggestions are on the one hand practical, without neglecting leisure and pleasure--something most people probably would fail to consider. Sitting pleasantly outside, sunscreen on, enjoying a book is something one would want to do when one was left with nothing but free time. The stimulation of the mind is something I've thought of in this context, storing books and so forth.
Now, while sitting outside placidly, one must also be vigilant. Vigilant, but stylish--there's no need to lower standards just because civilization has met with its demise. To this end, I recommend, for the neophyte survivalist, this excellent starter weapon.:

The extended mag complements the padded butt bearing our beloved signature logo. Go into the apocalypse armed for fashion as well as marauders!

Thanks for your suggestion, T. C., but I wonder if my lantern isnīt more effective!

I should also mention that the AK-47 above is part of a collection, one which, as you'll see, is both practical and attractive. Consider the advantages. First, you have to get to and from your bunker safely, and may have to go on foraging runs or chase away marauders. Second, simply parking your APC near your bunker with a guard in it at all times will enhance your underground safety. Third, talk about a chick magnet.

I'm really thankfull for your concerns with the safety of my bunker! But the car is a wee bit too conspicuous for war times!
I prefer this one:

Sweet jeep, Danik, though I'd put roll bars on it and a rear mounted .50 cal. Now, let's consider another aspect of bunker life during an apocalypse, which is entertainment. You touched on it a little, Danik, with your mention of books, but I'm talking about things you put in your bunker, such as games, playing cards, dice, video games and gaming consoles, if you will have electricity, sports equipment--anything, really. However you like to pass the time now, provide for that in your bunker, because you'll have much more free time to kill.

Now, for the serious survivalist, no bunker can have too many of these. Note: They come in different shapes and colors, one is encouraged to collect a variety--you could be down there a long time.

If life is no longer worth living, why build a bunker to perpetuate it? I would see your point if I were younger. I used to think about such things, now I no longer care. I might want to inflict some hurt on any who hurt my people, if I survived, that would be the only reason for going on. I like the artifacts of civilization, I am used to having them. I don't want to wipe my as* with leaves or spend all day looking for water. That is no life. You apparently imagine yourself with plenty of reasons to live. I imagine myself with plenty of reasons not to live in a world that needs a bunker.

A fly swatter. Would be a pity to be chillin' in your beautifully appointed bunker, sipping a mojito on the couch, a babe under each arm, in front of your 72" Ultra HD display with surround sound system, only to have a fly buzzing around driving you insane.

If it comes to using the fly swatter (thank you just learned a new word) with a drink in the other hand and the Leones looking as sunny as possible under trying circunstances, this scene would merit a picture.

The Leones. You learn fast, Danik, I like that. You're right, though, about the scene being pic worthy, and also you made me realize I should really make one of the Leones run around with the fly swatter, while I leer at her body parts bouncing about. Simultaneously, I could have the other Leone squat on all fours so I can rest my drink on her back. This is a very progressive bunker, you see. Equal rights for all.

:( You just had to do it, didn't you. You had to point out the fly in the ointment. Get it? Fly? Swatter?
You make a good point, reminiscent of Benjamin Franklin's observation that democracy comes down to two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. However, I have one thing working in my favor, if me and the girls are going to be down there for an extended period, namely that they'll want babies at some point and I alone can provide them. HA HA HA!!!

You have got a point there, T. C.. But babies at bunker time? You underestimate the survival instinct of your Leones!
As soon as bunker time is over  and you the happy dad!

<gulp> Dad? Hm. So much for that idea. Meantime there is the question of bunker food, i.e., the kind of food that will survive long-term storage, as well as chemical, biological and nuclear attack. And we all know there's only one food that fits the bill. It's the one that can't go bad because nothing in it was ever alive. Yep, it's:
