Hello all!

I am a young writer looking for a community that might be able to critique a new short story I just completed.

Some background: I've been writing plays for a long time, and I just recently got turned on to poetry and short story/flash fiction/shorter prose while studying at my university (recently graduated). I've written a lot of historical fiction and some absurdist material.

I do have an important question: would a circa 9000-word story be too much to post on this forum? Maybe serialized?

Welcome, Flat Cap. 9000 words seems pretty long. You might also consider that posting something here is considered publication by some publishers.

I hadn't even considered that possibility! Thanks for letting me know, since I might want to publish this work in the future.

Another important question: do I need to officially copyright this single story that I wrote? I've done so for all of my plays, not sure what the protocol is for short works. I'm in the US by the way.
