The FedEx truck, it comes and goes.
The walkway builders
eat their lunch
in partial shade.
One tree gone—it got in the way.

Roses are blooming; lilies, too.
School lets out;
some students and Helena Huggybear
exchange hellos.
One tree gone—it got in the way.

Half-price sandwiches include a side.
The UPS truck comes and goes;
Helena Huggybear peers at the clouds;
something rumbles down the block.
One tree gone—it got in the way.

No shade over here
by the curb, by the tar.
Rain predicted this afternoon;
brakes squeal, sequel to a triple honk.
One tree gone—it got in the way.

The Molson beer truck comes and goes.
The lights flick-flock
red:green, green:red;
a bench would help . . . I pace in place.
One tree gone—it got in the way.

Well done.

I like the tone of this; reminiscent of Joni's "Big Yellow Taxi" or “They Paved Paradise and Put in a Parking Lot.”...

They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em source: http://jonimitchell.com/music/song.cfm?id=13
