I'm reading A Long Way Down... and I have a question...

"no EEC directives banning British sausages"

Does anyone know what incident this suggests?

I googled but couldn't find anything... :ack2:

Did the EEC actually ban British sausages? when? why? can anyone find articles about that?????????

There was an episode of "Yes Minister" - a sitcom in the 70s/80s - where the British Sausage was under threat from the EEC . Jim Hacker became Prime Minister by campaigning to save it.
