I'm thinking about a movie called The Postman Always Rings Twice. Although the movie was made in 1946, the movie is modern. Frank Chambers is a transient who stops at a rural diner for a meal and ends up working there. The diner is operated by a beautiful young woman, Cora, and her much older husband, Nick Smith.

Frank and Cora start to have an affair soon after they meet. Cora is tired of her situation. She does not want to be married to Nick. She does not love him anymore. She and Frank collaborate to murder Nick in order to start a new life together without losing the proceeds from the diner. Their first attempt at the murder is a failure, but they eventually succeed.

I haven't seen that one, but I did have the opportunity on Wednesday to watch Rogers and Hammerstein's Carousel at the library at their full screen theater. I watched both showings of it and I was thinking about it today. This is also rather old, made in the 1950s. It's a musical and there is a lot of dancing.

One of my favorite movies is Bullitt. It stars Steve McQueen in the role of Lieutenant Frank Bullitt, a detective in charge of protecting a witness from a crime syndicate. In addition to having a solid plot, the movie has one of the best car chases ever made.

Some of the chase scenes take place on the hilly streets of San Francisco. Bullitt drives a 1968 Ford Mustang GT. In addition to having a great car chase, the dialogue is excellent. Here's a tagline from the movie: There are bad cops and there are good cops - and then there's Bullitt.
