View Full Version : I'm Still Here (I think)

Remember that great song by Stephen Sondheim: "I'm Still Here" ? Well, if you don't remember it, you aren't living right.

Be that as it may, I'd like to tell my felllow NitLetters, or at least those who are interested, that I'm still around, even though I haven't visited my favorite interactive site for several weeks. The reason is an intensive stretch of radiation and chemotherapy, of which I've been promised will end, at least for now, at the end of April.

If all goes well, I sincerely -- make that profoundly-- hope to be back here among the active NitLetters by mid-May or so. I should finally-finally!-- have an actual 21st century computer by then. Meantime, I'd appreciate any light-hearted thoughts you might harbor,

Thanks for everything, and may the God of your choice bless you.

Your auntie

Best wishes and I hope you have a complete recovery. I can't think of anything light-headed to say even though I just got out of bed. Some of those 21st century computers are already antiques.

Accept my best wishes for a speedy recovery. I miss your posts (as well as those of some others who have abandoned us, I hope for a less dramatic reason).

Aunty,
I have a bottle of Drambuie with your name on it. Whadya say we hop in my truck head west and drag the fringe of skirts across the purple sage?
Look forward to the return of that ole vim and vinegar.

From a past poetry thread interlude between Aunty and the village idiot…

Drambuie? Are you kidding? You must think we're all members of the One Percent with liquor budgets the size of the GNP of Austria.

Aunty,
I reckon you and I’ve been dragg’n the fringe of our skirts across the western sage a bit longer than most folks around here. God as looked kindly on us though, bless’n us with vinyl ‘an gramophones, afford’n us the means to listen and read at the same time.

RE: Drambuie on a budget
A bottle of Night Train mixed with a cup of honey is, for all intents and purposes, a close equal.

Hey Aunt Shecky, if ever there was a trooper, it's you. I'm looking forward to April and having you back amongst us, your tart wit, and corny jokes. We loves ya' baby, and we can't do without you.

See you soon!

If its any consolation Aunty, my friends have a habit of putting on the record "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees whenever I'm in any particular place.

Perhaps its because I'm getting so old now my birth certificate has expired and all my memories are in black and white.

You are in my prayers to regain your health and vigor.

Warmest wishes
M.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I'm slowly recovering and back here again. Still waiting for a ride to the computer store.

Welcome back!

Too far away to give you a ride to the computer store, and I can't drive the freeways due to anxiety issues anyway. Looking forward to your new offerings.

Holy heck, Aunt Shecky, having been away from LitNet for some time I didn't see this thread and was unaware of your health issues. Here's wishing you a steady recovery filled with fruit baskets from well wishers because, hey, free fruit. :-0
