hello every one..
I am wondering if you can help or suggest something new. In my Romantic Poetry class we are allowed to get extra marks by doing certain things such as memorizing three sonnets, making a board, or analyzing three poems. Actually our teacher is sick of that and she wants us to do something else. You know, like something new and she leaves it to us but of course under her direction.
I got an idea which is making a literary magazine but I have not present it yet. So I thought that if I ask you first, my friends, you may help me with something that I really will feel happy to present.

That's all
thanks

We used to act out short stories or poems (the Jabberwocky (I'm not sure that's spelled right) was a lot of fun!). So, if there are any actors, or just goofballs in your class, you might try that! ;)

I always thought that impromptu acting of Shakespeare wight be educational, interesting and productive. I would choose a play that everybody in the class read, distribute roles and act immediately after that (with the text in each player's hands). No decorations and costumes are needed; what is important is how you read the text and how you show your emotions/feelings with your voice, your countenance and your gestures.

Why especially Shakespeare? Because everybody knows him, because his dramatic characters are among the most skillfully portrayed, and because ... I read only couple of other plays by other authors :)

dear Shea...
thanks for your brilliant idea :) ..although I am not fond of acting but it seems to me it's cool to try...I will ask my teacher whether she agrees or not, then I will start thinking of something to act
any way I will tell you more as soon as it's done

dear Arteum
I like your idea and I think you are right that impromptu acting of Shakespeare might be educational, interesting and productive, but I guess it is more helpful in speech courses rather than the Romantic poetry. I also agree with u why especially Shakespeare, because Shakespeare has a lot in common with the traditional Arabic literature. I feel familiar with most of his works ;)

after all..thank-you both for sharing

One fun thing to do with poems or short stories is to rewrite them using a different subject. I read one based on Beowulf called Beocat, which used the same type of language, the kennings, all that, but used a cat as Beowulf and a dog as Grendel...it was really funny :D

Thanks Nora... on all my maps it just says Saudi Arabia... thats why I didn't recognize the K.S.A.

Have they recently changed their name... or has it been like that for a while?

hi guys...how is every one.
waxmephilosophical i like your idea. it's so funny, but I realy find it hard to deal with Romantic poems in this way :-? Don't you think so! Though I will try it with a short story and you got to help me :P

imthefoolonthehill any time:)
Actually they have not changed it recantly. It has been the same form the biginning of this counry but perhaps the (K.S.A) is common among us as saudis..

any way I change it to Saudi Arabia in case some one did not know or want to understand what K.S.A stands for...

Shea,
hi agian :) I have asked my instructure about the idea of acting and she agreed, but no one of my classmates agreed. I really got angry because when i got something creative no one respond :( and I couldn't act by myself unless I do it like Arteum's way!

any way.. thank-you guys for thinking of helping me and and did some effort, and I will tell you more about it hopfully as soon as I got something..

see ya :)

That's too bad! :( Maybe you can show you classmates up by doing it by yourself anyway! (unless it's supposed to be a group project) You could wear different hats or carry different props to show that your another character. Then maybe next time they'll see how much fun it was and want to join in. ;)
