The truth behind
fine reproduced Italian
architecture is
I cannot make it alone.
Oh Rome
dearest sweet Rome
All we have is today
where life beckons
and your gates waken
in me nature's designs.
Stony aqueducts not yet dry
but grown old in the sun
Skipping along basalt paths
still I cry 'enough!'
for all that I was taught
as Fathers are scattered
between the arches
Behold fair Rome
I cannot make it alone.

I'm trying to figure this one out. The "I can't make it alone" makes sense. I don't see how that ties with "reproduction", but reproduction is something we don't do alone.

That's true. This poem was spontaneous and is more about the art of imitation.
