Hello! I am not a regular here but figured you all are the people to ask! I'm trying to recommend a fiction book to my friend who is a lab researcher and it is killing me that I can't remember the name of it--or hardly anything about it at all. I am convinced based on what I do remember, however, that he should read it. So here goes:

- I read it 8-12 years ago.

- It was about scientific researchers who were actively conducting research of a groundbreaking, medical nature.

- I remember that there were more than one research group and that these groups of researchers were vying to publish their findings first...which were so groundbreaking that they would essentially become famous overnight (in the scientific field, at least).

- One group published first and had an error or some major flaws in their research which amounted to a professional disaster/total loss of credibility.

Are you awake?! Ok, clearly not the most riveting subject matter for a work of fiction, but I liked it and it is so relevant to my friend's career. (I've asked my most bookwormy friends and they have no idea/got too bored with the subject matter to care.) Anyone out there remember coming across this book??

Much appreciation in advance for even trying,
Sasha

hi sasha, I see 292 people have read your post but no help for you so far, im sorry about that.

I read a james rollin's book that had something similar to what you describe. im skeptical that's it, but does he sound familiar as the author?

I wonder if you live near a library and have hit up a reference librarian for some help in your searching?

Thanks so much for your reply! I'm going to google that author but I don't believe it is the correct one. I will take your advice re: the reference librarian. Thanks so much again!!

youre welcome...just in general sasha, since you are looking for a particular book with "lab" component to it, you might look to some of rollin's books. try ice hunt, the black order, and Amazonia.

and some of the robin cook medical thrillers have a strong lab component to them also.
