The Complete History of Humanoids
(Excluding Humans)
Volume 1: Orcs

Before we get started let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Perseus Elmore Adrax. I was born in the village of Dunford in the Red Hills in the year 323A.D.E. (After Devine Extinction). When I was eighteen I moved to Valiant City where I studied magic at the Barracks. After being a student for twelve years, I became a professor there for twenty. In the year 373A.D.E I made a portal and stepped through it not knowing where it went. When I stepped through I was suddenly in the year 535A.D.E. I had accidentally discovered accelerated forward time travel. I tried to go back, but the spell wouldn’t work in reverse. It just made a Window that allowed me to look into the past. After a year of experimenting (a year of aging. It was more like 138 years in real time) I finally figured out the rules of time travel. Time travel is like walking through a series of one way glass doors that lock from the inside. You can’t see through the door in front of you, but you can go through it. You can see through the door behind you, but it’s locked. That door is little more than a window. So you can only move forward blindly but you can always look back and see what’s back there clearly.
After figuring out the rules of my Doors and Windows I started documenting human history up to that point in time (673A.D.E.). I would use my Window to view history as it happened and edit history books for accuracy. Then I’d travel a few hundred years into the future and do the same for that gap of time. Soon the Adrax the Historian seal of approval (it’s a stamp of a book with a beard) was sought after by all academics.
Right now as I’m writing this I’m in a space station orbiting the planet Ortrit-343 in the year 3333A.D.E. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I have a thing for the number three. If I’m not in a year with a three in it my skin gets all itchy and I’m really comfortable in this year. I’m caught up on human history, and I have pupils throughout time and space filling in gaps that I may have missed. So what am I going to do in my retirement? I’m going to document the history of humanoids.
I know what you’re saying: “Humanoids? You mean like orcs, elves, and lizard men? But those don’t exist outside of stories!”
Ah, but they do. I mean, not here. Not in this Universe. Or this Multi-Verse. Our creator settled for one type of humans. But the next Multi-Verse over? There’s nothing there but beings that are mostly human, but with funny ears.
These volumes will cover humanoids like orcs, elves, dwarves, gnomes, etc. But they will not cover lizard men, mole men, or bug men. Those are just lizards, moles, and bugs with a human shape. No, the humanoids I’ll be covering are alternate evolutions the human race could have taken.
Each volume will cover a particular race’s course through history. Their equivalent of the Stone Age, Iron Age, Industrial Age, and finally Space Age. There will then be a brief summary of what happens next.
Now, let’s begin!
