Am I plant or animal?
At a loss to say,
I fumble with words,
Toddle off on my way.
So often content
To sit in the sun,
I grow like a ficus,
Photophilous one!
But then, I am mobile:
With feet on the floor,
I propel my great foliage
And step out the door.
Paradoxical thingum!
A swamp creature crossed
With a sensitive fern,
Fur-covered and mossed.
A sight not to see;
Biologists mutter:
There is no one kingdom
Broad enough for this nutter.
Yet deep in my itness,
I can take my own stock,
And I know my true nature:
I'm unbreakable rock.
At a loss to say,
I fumble with words,
Toddle off on my way.
So often content
To sit in the sun,
I grow like a ficus,
Photophilous one!
But then, I am mobile:
With feet on the floor,
I propel my great foliage
And step out the door.
Paradoxical thingum!
