View Full Version : Guns and Madmen

I am privileged to live in a land
Where the chances of dying by accident
Are mostly due to misguided motorists,
Small-scale assaults, and occasional madmen.
In other places, where war is the norm,
Casualties sprout like fertilized beans
In all damned directions.
The weaponry's dire, ubiquitous, deadly;
The damage: conspicuous, aggregate, costly.
Nothing compares to obliteration,
With odds of survival tending to nil.
How lucky we are to have limited outbursts
When so many others face grimmer statistics,
And whole generations are drowning in blood.
