Hi everyone :-)

I am just sharing my personal experience. I used to read lots of novels when I was young, but much less since I started working. I used to spend more time surfing on the web than reading a book. On my 40th birthday, my best friend offered me an ebook reader. That was a revelation. So easy and pleasant to use, so many books we can store!
I have started with reading all classic novels. Unfortunately there are lots of ebooks awfully formatted on amazon, what a mess.. some that I bought I just did not read them, too awful paging. I started thinking that this reader was a bad present from my friend! Hopefully one day I managed to find on amazon a reliable editor ("Atlantic Editions"), all their editions have a perfect layout. I have read Twain, Wilde, Austen, Shelley... currently reading Dickens. When I will have gone through all American and British classics, I will devour French ones. The novels I like reading are usually 600 pages ++, and that was heavy to manipulate while in bed. With the reader it's so confortable. I was relectant to technology till last year - and I understand those who prefer paper editions, but now I'm converted. I've never had books of my own at home, my flat is too small, I used to borrow them at the library. Now I'm able to keep all these magnificient novels in my little reader, it is just great!

Some time ago I converted to ebook reading and my experiences were similar. Books were suddenly more accessible and I could follow reading trails through authors, genres, etc., more readily.

Now four years down the track I find that I have gradually moved back to buying the printed book. I think I began to miss the physicality of the reading experience and it is nice to have books on the shelf to browse, to leaf through and relive the thoughts and feelings that a book may have evoked.

I do a bit of both now. Sometimes I even buy a book (usually a second hand copy) that I have first read as an ebook.

Thirding the sentiment. Having an entire library in one's pocket is so useful, and so much more accesible. No matter where I am, with 5 minutes free or 50, I can take out my phone and read a book to pass the time :)

I have a kindle that ive only used a little bit---though I enjoyed reading on it when I did. ive got a nice collection of Robert Louis Stevenson short stories on it.

i prefer paper books though---the feel, smell, turning the pages, looking at the covers, having them on shelves, etc.

Totally agree with you. There is something so magical about a book as a physical object.
