This book is often dogged my students who read it, but the more I read the more I feel that Sir Walter Scott's rich and elaborate writing is what makes it such a grand spectacle to imagine in the mind of the reader. Each character represents the true nature of the times in which they live. The Middle Ages are used as a backdrop very often, but Scotts story is a magnificent novel that is not only accurate, but enjoyable.
