Hello! I am currently re-reading the Anne books by Lucy Maud Montgomery, specifically Anne of Ingleside. What does the author mean in Ch 28, Jenny Penny, "they traded buttons, and cooperated in dust piles" when referring to the budding school-girl relationship between Jenny Penny and Di Blythe? My question is specific to "cooperated in dust piles".

Welcome to the site, Tbonet4. It's been some time since Anne and I have shared any quality time, but it might mean that they took turns in sweeping up. Was it a boarding school? Maybe it means dorm chores.
