I fear my mask is slipping.
I fear that they can see.
The smile that hid the pain is chipped away
leaving darkness to escape.
How long has it been my love,
since last you broke my heart.
How long has it been since I put back my smile.
you tore it down again.
You let the darkness take me
I'm not sure I can come back.
This mask I kept so close is broken
so now everyone can see.
the darkness has not gotten me,
the darkness is me.
You talk grand words to chase away the pain.
but as you sweet talk me you drive the knife through my chest.
why have you broken me. Not this mask that I kept close.
my mask was my heart and now its broken.
