I think many would agree that displaying tattoos has now reached epidemic proportions.
A few days ago, I was on a train heading for a coastal resort and noticed an elderly gent wearing tattoos on his arms. I thought that perhaps he was an old sailor or some other member of the armed forces that have traditionally worn tattoos, until I noticed that his wife, who must have been in her sixties, was also wearing them.
So, on the basis that if you can't beat them join them, can anyone recommend a suitable tattoo for an Englishman who has suddenly lost his marbles.

How about:

If you're going to take the plunge, well then, make sure you first decide on the type of art you'll be wearing... for the rest of your life.:) And more importantly, find the best tattoo artist you can and be willing to spend the money on something special.
As far as recommendations... you love literature, get a suitable tattoo that displays that love of literature!
I have on my chest, over my heart a tattoo of the Gryphon from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It's curled up and sleeping peacefully, and has been for twenty odd years. I have recently thought about getting another tattoo... last week I created a personal bookplate for a fellow LitNet member, and I rather like how it turned out, and am toying with having it tattooed on either my chest or maybe my arm.
Here it is...

^ Fantastic illustration, seriously, but it might be a bit complex for a tattoo, no?

I was thinking of something tasteful and sophisticated like this:

Well I've signed up with this one but haven't told her yet where I want the tattoo.

Thanks!
Yeah, if I go through with it I will have to redo the mermaid with less busy linework.

That's amazing.

Thanks!.. I rarely have time these days for art, but when I do set ink and paint to paper it's nice to see that I've retained some skills.
