I am writing a biography of Charles Valentine Riley, entomologist, who was born in "Caroline Cottage, Queen Street," Chelsea, England, on 18 September 1843. I would like to know Chelsea was like in the 1840s. As Thomas Carlyle lived in Chelsea during that time, I thought it would be a good way to find out more about Riley's birthplace.
