That lighted up your muse,
You told me I was the color red
And you the most beautiful canvas in the blue
I could light you up,
You told me I was the gleam in you
I stayed true to my shade,
But you wanted green and yellow too.

I liked the poem. The word "shade" and "light" hint of a coming conflict. His also wanting green and yellow adds the unexpected at the end.
