I'm brand new here, so I'm not sure if I'm threading in the correct place but....
I'm trying to retrieve a poem I heard once on R4, about a man who was so busy that he didn't realise that his old dog was trying to say goodbye to him & instead, he dismisses his faithful old companion, only to discover him dead, later on, by a woodpile I think. As you can imagine, it's a very moving poem. Written by either an American or probably a Canadian writer. Sadly I cannot recall an exact line or phrase from the poem, shame on me, & I appreciate that it makes finding it difficult. However, I have great faith in Humanity & hope my query here will bear fruit.
Thank you
Phil :)
