Provide one example of imperialism in the world today, whether it be an actual government body or country, or just an example on a smaller scale. Include your thoughts on imperialism and the effect(s) it has on society.

An example of imperialism in the world today can be seen in the Chinese Zambian relations. For about fifteen year now, China has been after resources in Zambia such as coal. It's 'relationship" with Zambia is really a one sided conversation. China takes what it wants and imposes itself on the landlocked South African country. Riots have broken out in Zambia regarding the Chinese presence and have resulted in many deaths and yet China continues to mine for coal regardless of what the Zambians want. I believe that imperialism will always be a part of the world. People and countries will want more and more power and that fact is inevitable. What I would like to see are restrictions on imperialism. We can't stop it but we can monitor it and therefor decrease the harmful effect it has on developing nations. Imperialism in my mind is a disease that can be treated but not cured.

Imperialism is a policy of extending a country’s rule over other foreign countries. It is either influencing or forcing other countries to submit to another country’s rule. America’s involvement in the Middle East and trying to control that region can be an example of imperialism. Although the U.S does not necessarily control the whole region, they have a lot of influence. The US has a strategy for dominating the Middle East and it involves the financing, arming and training of Islamist forces targeting secular regimes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria. These regimes are considered threats to a global hegemony, so the U.S takes it upon themselves to do this. Obama has also decided to be involved in the Middle East to get ahold of vast energy reserves, and in controlling the regions to gain these resources, it can be considered an example of imperialism.

An example of imperialism in the world today is the continued settlement building and expansion of Israel into the West Bank belonging to the Palestinians. In this case, it is an actual government body or country that is colonizing land that is not theirs, thus cruelly displacing indigenous peoples from homes that they've lived in for generations. I believe that imperialism is terrible, because it stems from greed which I believe is the worst sin. It has a negative effect on society because those being oppressed under imperialism build up hate for the oppressors and it just causes problems for the world over.

An example of imperialism in the world today is America attempting to imperialize Russia regarding Ukraine. Basically, Obama has threatened Russia to not take over Ukraine or else there would be consequences, which I am assuming these consequences involve military attack. In attempt to try to 'save' Ukraine, America gains another target on their back by another country that dislikes their intervention. As America tries to act as the global policeman, the effects left on society today are not good. The people who are being oppressed always grow a hatred for those trying to imperialize them and their country, so the chances of these people backlashing are quite good. No one wants to be oppressed and when they are, it never leads to a happy, good outcome. Imperialism is unnecessary because each country should be able to decide on their own what exactly they desire to do.

The U.S is a modern day imperialistic power. The U.S. likes war we make billions of dollars off of it. The U.S. has continuously lies to the american public about the military's involvement in things/ how the story actually went to gain support of citizens (most recently with American Sniper). In 2013 the U.S. spent more than what the next 7 top spending countries did combined in military expenses...
We have the strongest and most advanced military in the world with over 400 bases located around the world and forces able to be deployed at the drop of a hat. We don't need to physically keep military forces in colonized lands to suppress its people/ control them but the threat of our ability hangs over their heads.

Imperialism is a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. Today the US is the biggest super power in the world with a military bigger than the next 15 leading countries combined. There is no question that the US does not have the gun-power to enter almost any nation and take it over completely. While the US obviously does not do this they make sure to keep other countries well informed of this truth. For example there is controversy over whether or not the US should intervene with the acts of ISIS or simply leave it be and let it play out. I think imperialism can be extremely threatening, especially when a country like the US has such a significantly stronger military than any other place on the planet. It causes people in countries that aren't exactly the US’s “friends” to constantly live in fear of the day that might come when the US decides to invade that country.

One example of modern a day imperialism in the world is China taking root in Africa. This imperialistic action has come about in recent years as China has moved into Africa to mine natural resources that they can benefit from taking. Americans are stared by this, mainly because of how profitable this plan has become for China. The definition of Imperialism is the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, or of acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies. According to these recent events, China is extending it's own authority over Africa, which can pressure other countries to react in whatever way they think is the safest and/or quickest way to provide stability for themselves or others.

One example of imperialism today is how the United States are trying to gain control over the Middle East. The United States have a great advantage in winning battles due to their advanced technology and weapons. The Obama administration is currently negotiating with Russia on a possible political settlement in Syria, and with Iran on a agreement based on an agreement on its nuclear program and at least a partial lifting of economic sanctions. The Middle East requires the building of a new socialist movement that unites the working class of all the national and sectarian boundaries in a fight for the United Socialist States of the Middle East. The building of a mass socialist anti-war movement dedicated to putting an end to the source of war and militarism is the job of the workers of the United States and Europe. I believe imperialism is a terrible thing, although it is beneficial for a countries power, it is damaging another.

Imperialism is the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, or of acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies. An example of imperialism in the world today, is America’s involvement in the Middle East; particularly Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq. America is providing both weapons, and military bases, in order to increase their military power in the Middle East. I do not necessarily feel that imperialism is a positive thing, but I do not feel it is negative either. I do feel that a country should generally be able to look after themselves, rather than others trying to influence and overpower the countries involved.. but if a country needs assistance to be able to survive alone, then I think the needed assistance should be given. As long as imperialism does not damage the individuals living in the country, and the country as a whole, as well as it's surrounding countries, I do not feel that it is harmful.

A model of imperialism in the world today is the imperialism of Ukraine between the U.S. and Russia. Putin desires to reestablish the soviet empire in Ukraine which the U.S. intervened declaring "consequences" will be carried out. The motivation behind Putin's decision is to expand his economic territory. Imperialism only benefits the conductor of expanding personal territories. However, without imperialism some countries would have remained undiscovered. Imperialism today negatively impacts society because in this modern era disputes about land effects both countries due to the advantage of media. In history, messages were delayed and as illustrated in Heart of Darkness the Europeans were ignorant of imperialism. Today, our society is affected by every decision the government finalizes which diverse amounts of opinion arise, splitting into groups of power driven minds and morals.

An example of imperialism in the world today would be Russia and its continued attempts to expand back to its previous size. Currently, Russia has taken parts of Ukraine through military force and continues to gain footholds in the small country to expand its influence not only in Ukraine but also worldwide as control of the nation would give it a larger amount of influence worldwide. I think that imperialism has mainly been a negative connotation in history so far and countries should be able to rule for themselves, not be ruled by another power unless they are a danger to worldwide peace. For society today, there are still remnants of imperialism in previous lands under foreign influence in culture, language, and many other aspects. Today however, most countries are in agreement in that no other country should become an imperialistic country again.

A current example of Imperialism are the actions that Russia is taking in regards to controlling Ukraine. Imperialism is in use by the Russian empire by invading and controlling everyday life in Ukraine. Furthermore, without permission, the Russians have exploited the lack of power in Ukraine and have attempted to enlarge their massive empire. By taking these actions, Russia is demonstrating imperialism and demonstrating the ruthless nature associated with it. The ruthless and unfortunate realities must be recognized by both the imperialists and the country being controlled. The fact of the matter is that when a country believes they have the ability to control another country, they believe they have supreme power and that nothing should be able to stop them. This in turn, results in a higher rate of imperialism, causing an increased amount of distress throughout the world. In order to avoid the globalization of a certain power, imperialistic ideals should be eliminated from every country's political agenda.

An example of imperialism today is America expanding its military power in the world. The U.S. spreads and expands its control over the world, and an example of this are the US military bases in many countries around the globe. Whether or not a country should take control of other countries depends on its motives. Imperialism is fine as long as you try to help the country in need, but is bad if you try to take advantages of the countries for your own benefits. The effects of imperialism can be either positive or negative, depending on the purpose.

One example of imperialism in the world today could be the U.S. and the Middle East. The U.S is trying to influence their country's power through the Middle East using military force. I do not side with imperialism. I think it is best if a country makes decisions for themselves. I think imperialism leads to unnecessary and negative effects on society

An example of imperialism today is the U.S, considering it's one of the biggest super powers in the world, we are trying to
expand our military through countries or specific parts of the world. One example would be Iran or Afghanistan.whether or not the U.S. should take control over another country depends on political issues or the government. I think imperialism is fine as long as we are supporting or trying to expand our military in other countries. However, I feel imperialism is horrible if we trying taking advantage of another country and using their resources to help ourselves

An example of imperialism in the world today, is how the United States is trying to gain control of the Middle East with their resources. President Obama's administration is discussing possible plans to create settlement in Syria. Because of the United States' advanced power and technology resources, other parts of the world rely on us to provide assistance. I do think that it's necessary for a country to be independent, but if they are in need of assistance, it's the right thing to do for another part of the world to help.

One example of imperialism in the world today is the large United States military power. The U.S. leads wars all over the world and particularly in the Middle East. The great American military power is used as a threat to other nations. The wars especially in Iraq and Afghanistan are an ongoing example of our imperialism. The U.S. has moved their military into the foreign countries and asserted a form of power. I personally have mixed views on imperialism. Although I do see how it is necessary to maintain the safety of the United States, it also creates a lot of harm to the people in other countries who should not be affected. For example, bombings in the Middle East have killed many children even though it is a fatal indirect result.

one example of imperalism would be with how the United states is going in and trying to get control of the middle east, as well as the amount of power we have with out military. with us going into many countries and also adding new bases in each one. but imperialism can be both a good or a bad thing depending on how you use it

Imperialism isn’t only about conquering other countries, it can also be warring in other nations to protect the home country’s interests, in many cases, wealth. One example of imperialism today is U.S.A’s constant meddling in the Middle East. Although this is a highly debated topic, many believe that America’s interests in the Middle East do not lie in humanitarian and protection, but for wealth.

One example of imperialism in the world today is U.S. imperialism's new Cold War and Ukraine. Obama told Russia to refrain from bombing an intervention in Ukraine or there will be consequences. This crisis is over the Russians sending troops to the Crimea. The U.S. and European imperialists have seized Ukraine. Their government will seem to do anything they want, being referred to as a "puppet government."

The easiest example of imperialism is Russia taking over Ukraine. Imperialism isn't just about taking over countries;other countries aim to protect their own interests. Russia has used its extensive force to control Ukraine so it may benefit Russia, it is a parasitic relationship speaking from a biological stand point. I do not believe that imperialism is an acceptable method of government as it only benefits one country and hurts the other.

An example of imperialism today is China in Africa, or more specifically, Zambia. China has made deals with the Zambian government to mine and obtain natural resources found in Zambia for companies in China benefits. Since many of the companies in China are either controlled by the government or through heavy lobbyists through the privatization and oligarchies, the companies imperializing in Africa are directed by the ruling Communist Party in China. Chinese are being to live and even start contraction on homes and buildings, as well as schools and hospitals. This form of imperialism is not bad because it is benefiting both the Chinese companies in profits and demographics as well as the deal the African governments had agreed on which are helping them too.

The United States' push to gain influence and power in the Middle East is a modern example of imperialism. In doing this they force their own customs and beliefs into people of the Middle East's lives. This can drastically change how they live and go about their daily lives. The US has been doing this in more than just the Middle East. It has been happening all over the globe. During my time living in Shanghai there was rarely a time you could go and drive around and you wouldn't see a Western business such as McDonalds or Starbucks. They often had a Chinese twist but at their core they were still Western run businesses. This modern day imperialism can change the culture of a country or even destroy it.

Imperialism can be in the form of a colony where a foreign country is in control of a protectorate with the local government controlled by a foreign country. A foreign country can also exert a great deal of economic influence. One of the most widespread forms of imperialism was colonization. Examples of countries with imperialism are Britain, France, Netherlands, and Portugal. Imperialism is, and was, very common and there are many different locations which have been under the control of another foreign country, all of which are examples of imperialism.

An example of imperialism in the world today would be the United States placing more troops in Africa to counter the threats of the Islamists. Imperialism has never seemed to occur without hurting something or someone in order for someone or something else to benefit. It makes sense, for other nations to want to spread their culture and their ideals with the rest of the undiscovered world, but that is only acceptable to a certain extent. When it gets to the point that people are suffering as a result of another country coming in and forcing themselves upon the receiving, that is just not right. These sort of relations put up barriers between nations and make it impossible to have respect for the country doing the imperializing. Overall, imperialism causes more harm than good in the world.

A present day example of imperialism is the prescense of Chinese immigrants in Zambia. China has shown a strong interest in Zambia's natural resources for about a decade, and have made deals with their government to set up mines there. This caused a large influx of Chinese immigrants, which lead to multiple attacks on the Chinese by the Zambians. To me, imperialism is when one nation forces its power and influence upon another one. It can never lead to good if we look back at imperialistic empires from the past, such has the Persian and Roman Empires. It has the power to break apart societies and destroy communities.

During the Cold War, Soviet Russia was able to create an "iron curtain" divide within Europe, dividing its satellite states from the rest of Europe. In a sense, it was imperialism back then because those particular states were, despite being independent, under political and economic influence of the soviet union. Modern day Russia's actions towards neighboring Ukraine shares some resemblances to their past imperialistic behavior. By attempting to annex Ukraine, Russia has revealed their power-hungry, imperialistic nature. The underlying cause for imperialism is greed and disregard for the well-being of a neighboring state. The consequential political distress caused by Russia's actions reveal the disastrous effects of imperialism, proving that even if imperialism ultimately doesn't succeed, it can still have reverberating effects on the state of a nation.

Imperialism is a country, or government body, expanding its power and influence through military power or diplomacy. An example of imperialism in the world today would be the United States of America expanding its military power around the world. Nowadays there are many US bases all over the world in various locations and the US military is growing every day. Imperialism makes it very easy for countries to have disputes over which country is more powerful or influential than another. Overall I think imperialism tends to have more negative effects than positive and is often rather unnecessary.

An example of imperialism today is the constant attempt of subordination of the Ukrainian people by the Russian government. Ukraine is its own independent nation that should be free from Russia since the USSR feel apart. However, Russia seeks to show that it is getting back its power by showing how it can force it upon others which is an example of imperialism. Russia is attempting to invade Ukraine and integrate its people back into its government which would be an example of imperialism in the modern context.

The foundation of the United States is essentially colonization and imperialism. I think colonization, if the intention is to promote international cooperation and to help the other nation could be a positive concept for the world. However, the reality of imperialism is purely greed and selfishness, so overall it is a negative aspect to world history.

An example to modern day imperialism would be with the crisis between ISIS and the US. The US has been in the debate whether or not to employ the use of military force. In my opinion imperialism is a unnecessary and terrible concept that doesn't allow for the development of smaller countries on their own. The United States is the biggest super power in the world but that doesn't mean we are just going to go out and take over what every body of land we desire.

A very common and well mentioned example of imperialism would be the U.S. trying to spread its influence in the middle east for about half a century now. Even though the U.S. has military occupation in the middle east trying to help oppressed countries that have the same ideals as us, such as Israel so they can stop the corrupt governments of countries like Iran and Saudi-Arabia. But the U.S. interests were never only in involved bringing justice and democracy to these countries. Considering that most of the world's oil reserves are located in the middle east this can also be considered a very big financial motivation for the U.S. to take military and political action in those countries for their own benefit. Although we are helping improve their current political dilemmas, for the most part we are concerned with gaining control of the oil reserves in those countries. I think imperialism is a very horrific ideal for a country to implement for financial gain and can erase the basis of another country's culture and way of life, really having no benefit for the affected country if it is continuous.

One example of imperialism in the world today is China's holding of Zambia. China uses Zambia to obtain resources not available to them. Riots have broken out in Zambia to protest China's presence. The natives of Zambia have the right to protest. However, some of the protests have resulted in many deaths of natives. Imperialism will probably never go away as countries are always striving to be ahead of one another to protect their people. Imperialism in effect is inevitable, but countries that have a ton of influence over one another should get involved to put regulations on the limits of how far imperialism can impact the "colony." Imperialism has a huge effect on society. Members in society have to find a way to end a country's imperialistic hold on theirs and how to provide a living for themselves when their resources that they use to make a living are being taken away from them.

Imperialism is when a country extends its power and/or influence through either diplomacy or military force. A modern day example of imperialism is the United States’ involvement in the Middle East. The United States sent thousands of troops into Iraq and Afghanistan and therefore now has considerable power and influence on the region. I think imperialism in general is not a bad thing because it doesn’t always harm people but there are extreme example of imperialism such as the ivory trade in Africa that gives imperialism a negative impression.

Imperialism has just recently again taken place in Africa. The Chinese have just invested a lot of their time and money into areas in Africa, and have actually opened opportunity for new jobs with the establishment of hotels, mining establishments, restaurants, schools, and hospitals. Supposedly, many of these employers are offering awful working conditions and harming the Zambian people by using the unfair practices. I think in some circumstances of mutual benefit it can be good, but in general history has shown that its always one side of people taking from another while the lesser are abused and not compensated fairly enough. It can have very damaging effects on a society as a whole as shown by Conrad.

Imperialism is the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, or of acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies. Russia's take over of the crimea area is an act of imperialism. Mr. Putins end goal is to rebuild the soviet union and restore nationalism to Mother Russia. imperialism is normally just a move to show off your countries power. It is normally not beneficial to the county that is being taken over. During World War Two IL Duce tried to take over the Libyan capital to boost Italian moral and get a spear of influence. Society never benefits when an empire is trying to be built. The best type of government is by the people and for the people.

Imperialism is a countries rule over other countries and is expanding its military power to the world. One example is that when I think of imperialism I think of Russia and Ukraine. The military controls everyday life and what citizens can and cannot do. Which is exactly what is going on in the Heart of Darkness. The evil lies in the people who are starting to reconstruct and modernize the jungle. They are taking away the natives lives and homes and everything they once knew will cease to exist. Imperialism is okay if the country being overthrown is positive, like helping the situation get better for the people, fresh drinking water, schooling.

An example of imperialism today is the United States imperialism in the Middle East. The entire region has been engulfed in violence due to the policies pursued by US imperialism, with the possibility of a region-wide war emerging as a serious threat. The Obama administration is currently pursuing negotiations with Russia on a possible political settlement in Syria, and with Iran on an agreement on its nuclear program and at least a partial lifting of economic sanctions. In the process, the US military succeeded not only in blowing to smithereens a fragile society, already war-ravaged and devastated by sanctions, but also undermining the entire regional state system. We are using military force to try to extend our country’s power.

An example of imperialism today is the United States trying to control Ukraine and some Middle Eastern countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. The United States is interested in the Middle Eastern countries because they have oil and wants to control Ukraine because Russia is the biggest US enemy and Ukraine is close to Russia. Also, some European countries are still trying to imperialize Africa and use their natural resources for their own benefit.

A modern example of imperialism would include the United States actions in other places in the world specifically in the middle east. The United States has made sure countries in the middle east know very well that the United States may intervene at any point of time if they feel it is necessary. The reason this is made possible is due to the United States being such a powerful nation economically as well as having a very threatening military. Imperialism can be used for greed much like how the Europeans imperialized Africa, but can also be used for good just to help protect allies of that nation. The only worrying scenario is that the imperializing nation decides to make selfish actions which can lead to a negative outcome, but in general imperialism can be used for good.

a great example of imperialism today are the overseas territories held by many of the major western countries. more specifically places like Guam and Puerto Rico, these are territories held by the United States, with real people living on them and they do not have the same rights as american citizens, although the laws and regulations imposed upon them come from america. This is much more evident in Guam, a tiny little island the the middle of the pacific ocean. For a long time much of the manufacturing done by US companies happened there and there were sweatshops and terrible working conditions present on American soil!

One example of imperialism in todays world is the United States relationship with middle eastern countries. We go into these countries whether they like it or not to help end wars, but we also have our own reasons for doing so, including our interest in obtaining oil and other resources. These countries are often times powerless to whether we enter and intervene or not. In my opinion, imperialism represents evilness and greed in which all mankind may show at one point or another.

I don't know enough political systems of todays world to have an excellent opinion on imperialism, however the concept remains the same over different time periods. Imperialism is the conquest of different countries through military force, often for the sake of exploiting wanted resources from the colony. This, as we have seen, has had negative impacts on many victim countries, and on occasion the predatory country. However imperialism is just that, predatory, and should be approached as such. Even Russian occupation of the Ukraine I find to be ridiculous, unnecessary, and a poor waste of time and money. However, it is in the (European) human nature to expand, and who is to say when it is not allowed anymore.

The United States is one of the worlds largest policing forces, we attempt to at least keep tabs on other countries to ensure that they are either doing what we or that they aren't interrupting the economies or social aspects of countries we are in good standing with. The US however is greedy when it comes to using diplomacy in an effort to seem as though they are not in countries for money, namely the Middle East, for oil. The effects of this on society at least in the United States is largely unaffected, however the places we are in can be majorly affected by our sway in what political leaders will come to power and the military influence that we sometimes impose on foreign nations. It's no wonder that the large majority of foreign countries hate the US with our over-reaching hand that attempts to guide the outcomes of other nations.

USA invading Iraq and setting there their own rules and control over the government and several parts of the country can be an example of the imperialism in the modern world. I feel that imperialism is a relic of the past, and modern society needs to find a way to deal with it, because it often affects many peoples lives in a negative way.

Imperialism is a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. A good example of imperialism will be United States because United states a superpower with nuclear weapons and tanks and other guns and one of the strongest military in the world. they are involve in every war trying to help others but at the same time trying to control them. United States is a big country but they should worry first on them and their people. i see United States as an empire because it keeps growing strong.

The Europeans (Kurtz in particular) take over and invade the Congo. They bring their sickness and culture and force in upon the natives living there. An example of imperialism today is Israel taking more than half of Palestine's original territory. Israel and Palestine have been almost at war with each other for a while now, and Israel has no right to take an inch from Palestine territory and the U.S. shouldn't back them up. The U.S. is what made Israel a formidable country in the Middle East. That is why I laugh at the current U.S-Israeli relations which are at all time low. Israel will realize how much they need the U.S. once conflict comes knocking on their door, and it is bound to happen because Israel is by far the most hated country in the Middle East.

An example of imperialism today is Russia trying to take over Ukraine. Russia has invaded the Ukraine and placed troops and weapons there in attempt to control the control. Russia is incredibly nationalistic and many believe that it should be restored to the way it was when Russia was the Soviet Union. It is trying to expand its "empire" and exploit Ukraine to benefit their own country. Imperialism is a terrible thing that causes many deaths and ruins many nations. Weaker countries are taken advantage of because they cannot defend themselves from others who want them for the sole benefit of their own country.

An example is the United States' involvement in the Middle East. Although the U.S. does not truly rule or control these countries or lands, it has a substantial amount of power to get what it wants from those countries. For instance, most oil comes from the Middle East, and the U.S. is able to manipulate these countries to get these goods, but it also has to face the consequences of colonizing these countries by helping solve war issues or border problems. It is something that has been done in the past by all great countries and rulers/empires, but it is ruthless and sometimes requires a people to kill a lot of others.

Today united states has been one of the strongest countries in the world. that has not however created an unbalance force in the world with us overtaking its power against other countries (physical, like wars). The us government has been a great example of excessive greed against the people by attaining as much as government power in programs such as the obamacare. Obamacare creates class division as a whole due to the provision of socialized healthcare for the nation through charging different prices based upon incomes. As a result, the government has just created class difference and hate against another. such issues would result in people turning back to the government while the government indirectly creates a infinite loop where they are only increasing their power every year. This is only a general effect as a result of obamacare. This is a direct example of the European imperialism and the crews hunt for ivory throughout the heart of darkness.

An example of an imperialistic state would be ISIS. ISIS exemplifies imperialism because it is a group that forces their beliefs on other countries and uses violent manipulation tactics. I think imperialism is inevitable in the present day state where so many different ideas on government and religion are being expressed. I think the sole example of imperialism through ISIS is an obvious negative effect on the government due to the inhumane nature and unrealistic goals of the group. ISIS being a blatant threat to the government and innocent civilians makes this type of imperialism bad.

An example of imperialism today is in Tibet. People and the government of Tibet oppose Chinese law and rule. This opposition leads to blunt military force that can destroy cities. China believes that Tibet is a necessary land to have power over because of their resources that are natural and rich. China will never cease their influence over Tibet because there is too much to lose, they are not willing to lose power and resources. Imperialism is something that will not stop, it is the way parts of the worlds work. With imperialism, countries and people do take advantage of others but that is just the way of human nature. Weak countries will be over powered by strong countries, there is no way around it.

Imperialism is not some thing of the past that no longer needs to be addressed, it is still prevalent today. Russia is currently trying to take over and imperialize both Ukraine and Georgia. They aggressively bomb and attempt to occupy both countries for they feel that they have the right to govern them. There are absolutely no cultural benefits to this action. It has caused much political strife and unnecessary bloodshed. Imperialism causes the death and exploitation of millions and only a select few really see the benefits of it. If a group of people feel that they are independent and wish to be governed so and prove to do so effectively and peacefully, no one should be able to impede upon their freedom.
