Over millions of years. . heh
(Emerson quote above)
"For all is like an ocean, all flows and connects. Touch it in one place and it is felt on the other end of the world."
(Father Zosimov, the Brothers Karamazov)
What are some quotes that you only had to read once, and memorized forever?
Also, I'm wondering if anyone can help me find a quote. . . It was by Emerson I think. If it wasn't him, then it was definitely Thoreau or Whitman, but I am fairly sure it was Ralph Waldo. .
Anyway - I have looked for it and couldn't find it, so I don't think I will be able to, unless someone knows it. .
It was probably in an essay of his I thnk. Anyway- without further ado, ;p
It was basically - he was saying, he couldn't ever say he had suffered. . . like, through his life . . and - I have forgotten the words and where it came from, but the effect of it remained with me, it moved me powerfully and I have sort of kept it close by ever since. Anyone know the place I am speaking of, where he wrote this? Thanks in advance.
