I'm really excited to be a part of this world-wide community of literature lovers. I'm looking forward to talking and discussing literature with people from around the world. Well, lemme just introduce myself. I am Pourya Yahyaee, 23 years old from Iran. I'm currently studying English literature at the university of Guilan. Like everyone i have some personal interests, but above all i have a great interest in language and linguistic studies. That's why i try to learn foreign languages as a hobby. When i entered university about 4 years ago, i hated literature and i just chose my field out of necessity, because i had to due to some reasons. However, little by little i fell in love with literature and decided to study how language works in literary works. I also love movies and music, and i read a lot naturally as my field requires that i do so. And right now i'm working on a research paper on stylistic feature on the novels of James Joyce...
Hoping to find some good people to discuss literature with on this great place :)

Welcome Pourya. Joyce is a formidable author even to native English speakers so you have my sincere admiration. You will find plenty of lovers of literary fiction here, and some non-fiction nerds (personally I'm ambidextrous), along with many fans of music and cinema. If you get tired of serious discussions, there are endless silly games to play, too. Welcome again and please enjoy yourself. It's nice to have you with us. :)

My experience with people here is that most are extremely well read and love to give their advice and opinions to sincere learners like yourself. So if you ask a question about English-language literature, you may stimulate all kinds of discussion. On the other hand, people don't like doing other people's homework for them (and the administrators discourage it), but that is obviously not what you are doing here. Another thing to remember is that, although this is a very friendly site, people sometimes take a few days or even weeks to really open up to newcomers. I don't know why that is--maybe cyber culture or maybe just human nature. So don't be shy to throw yourself into a conversation. We can get a little intense sometimes, but on the whole people are polite and welcoming here. I hope that helps you some. You may please consider me a friend. :)

It's really nice of u, that sure was a great help. and concerning what u said about opening up to new comers i guess that's just because of human nature as u correctly mentioned and it's on he new-comers' side 'cuz they think that they should do something or say something to get accepted and sometimes they get so anxious and they say stupid things :D i've been there a couple of times (maybe i'm doing the same thing now ;) ) and consequently that creates a bad view on new-comers in general. Most people don't know how to break the ice and they just hurt themselves but i guess u broke the ice very nicely :) i'd be pleased to have u as a friend btw
