Just wanted to know what y'all think of this.
Bailey is at John's house.
“Hey John get over here Adventuro just kicked Doc evil out of the stratosphere” calls out Bailey
“Sick bro that's awesome” replies John .
“Bailey i heard your parents arguing last night, the same again? ” says John offhandedly.
“Ya mum found Dad drunk again”
“ If theres anything wrong you can tell me I've got your back Bailey” says John.
“I know” Bailey replies.
At this moment , at this place Bailey is happy.
A couple of days later Bailey is on the way to John's house but something is off. He sees a man in a hood running they lock eyes for a brief second. Bailey knocks on John’s door hesitantly. No one answers. He looks through the window, as he see’s john dead body lying on the floor, Bailey will never again be the same.
Bailey is at the park, he see’s people from his school approaching him, suddenly they are all around him, confused, alone and out of place Bailey collapses.
“Do you know why you're here” asks the psychologist
" No” replies Bailey.
“Your school friends say that you don't really talk anymore”
“I don't have any school friends”.
exasperated sigh
After a thirty minute conversation Bailey is asked to wait outside. Bailey hear’s snippets of conversation through the wall.
“something traumatic has happened to that boy, and the way that he deals with it is by shutting down but I'm afraid he’s just too far gone for us to be able to help him”
Bailey thinks of the refusal of everyone around him to offer him the kindness John had given him. He once again succumbs to that emptiness. Here at this place, free of thought, Bailey is immune to the world. Bailey’s future is slipping from him. He is not resisting.
Bailey is cycling home , a stray dog is blocking his path.
“Hey little man you look hungry” Bailey says as he passes the dog his bread.
The dog still follows him
“go home” but the dog only looks at him contently.
As he hugs this dog , stone faced Bailey begins to weep, he weeps a thousand monsoons, he weeps as he thinks of the future denied , he weeps as he thinks about a world taken but most of all he weeps at the thought of the love that is being offered to him by this stray dog, so free of cost, so foreign yet of unimaginable importance. Even as he cries , the dog only buries its face deeper... “I’m going to call you John”.
