Everyone has demon
thoughts behind their eyes
And wriggling beneath their skin
And growing in the dead hair
On their chinny chin chin.

Yesterday's they built us,
Day on day on day
Some of us asked big questions
Or got on their knees to pray
Some killed others
with a love annointed
With a mother's spit
On a handkerchief.

Like the falling leaf of humanity
Descending from the twin
Of the proudest New York tree.

I watched the fall
As I stared into the abyss
Of the fresh cut grass
And piss
Of my camomile tea.

Let's have babies
You and me
Better than anybody else's babies
Like other people's babies
But better.

Everyone has demon
Thoughts behind their eyes
And wriggling beneath their skin
And growing in the dead hair
On their chinny chin chin.

Not sure I ever wrote anything better.

It is good. Lurking in the evil of demon thoughts and you slip in a chinny chin chin! It builds on the effect and is well placed at the beginning and end of the poem which entwined me in its dark yet impulsive musing. Made me think of times when I just wanted to throw all caution to the wind despite the bleak outlook. Probably the lets have babies stanza...

Great poem Jerry.

It's good JB

This is particularly good

Like the falling leaf of humanity
Descending from the twin
Of the proudest New York tree.

My preferred lines, with their subtle biblical allusion.

I watch your rise as I stare at (and read!) your poetry, Jerry.

Best as always,

I have always wanted to point out and never have, that the lines quoted above in responses to the post, were relating to the people who jumped from the twin towers.
