"Let yourself be drawn by the stronger pull of that which you truly love."

No longer chasing,
No longer wasting,
No longer fading -

Sail out into the calm of night,
In the boat of your own making -

Build the sails strong and glide;
Know well the strength of your design -

Sail down the stream to the source,
and out onto the ocean -

Be glad and dance for a while,
And return to the safety of shore.

Sail out into the calm of night,
In a boat of your own making -

Know the strength of your design,

Lay down your swords,
Find the strength in words -

Sail out into the calm, tonight.

“Peace is always beautiful.”
― Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

“Happiness, not in another place but this place...not for another hour, but this hour.”
― Walt Whitman

“Do anything, but let it produce joy.”
― Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

The wind blows so fiercely on
this peaceful night;
beautiful wind
within the sun and clouds.
This little feline
has never known true winter-
a child of summer as I am,
with long and shaggy fur.
We play and dance,
retreat, advance,
she runs along with-
I've never had such a friend as her.
Maybe Ramakrishna's cat?
I'm certainly fine with that.
She seems to know all nature's hers -
she yawns, avers
it with her whiskers.
Now is she a memory?
Dream of a visionary?
Nope - she is real,
can hear and can feel.
Her padded feet
are heaven's seat,
and I'm her secret.

I liked the idea of being Ramakrishna's cat's secret in the second poem.

The quoted part in the first one made me think that we don't give enough credit to the power in what we love to "pull" us. We tend to think we have to do all the work ourselves.

Thanks so much, YesNo. I'm really glad you liked it. That quote is actually from Rumi, I forgot to attribute it to him.

I really appreciate your comment, this is actually my favorite poem I've written. I'm very glad you enjoyed it.
