feeling stupid with
my hard-on I lean
against the lemon
chiffon tiles of a
shabby neon-lit
subway station corridor
while around me balding
Bostonians improvise
a flash mob with their
lawfully dreaded wives
to the rancid sound
of a crappy Britpop
song then an old
classmate I never
really liked chats
me up blabbering
about Ingmar Bergman
advanced theoretical
physics Derrida’s
iterability and my
only hope is that
my alarm-clock rings
soon for even in my
dreams I do not go
for Britpop

What a great poem in almost one breath! Perhaps consider:
subway station corridor
(while) around me balding
to give the piece that continuous flow?
Nicely wrapped up and I do hope you were relieved to open your eyes!

thanks for your suggestion, D.—initially, I had a "while" and took it out for dontaskmewhich reasons… put it back in again, and it does flow more nicely!

Any dream with someone talking about Derrida in it is one which should be escaped from at the earliest opportunity! Which is worse, Derrida or Britpop? Now that's a conundrum! lol. I'd rather listen to Nickleback, any day. :D
Definitely a fun read, Dieter. Given the lack of punctuation everywhere else, I'd cut that lonely comma :D

LOL Hawkman, you bet! A friend of mine insisted I read an article by Derrida back when we were still uni students (you will have guessed that HE was studying architecture btw), but I had finished when reaching the third sentence— "The centre is not the centre"—, at which point I yelled "What a fraud!" and threw the article in the waste bin. PS: you're right, the comma felt awfully lonely, so I took it to a better place. :-) TY for reading and commenting.
Pompey Bum, they even haunt my dreams, would you believe it? ;-) TY!
