Not only did I have a nice day, giving myself a rare afternoon off work, but in a wonderful bit of coincidence the official paperwork reporting on the result of my PhD came through - meaning that on my birthday, I officially became Dr Loka! It's been about three years since my students started calling me that anyway, but at least now they'll be accurate...

I know I've been a bit absent from the forum in recent months, and I hope soon to return to being more active. My department has given me an enourmous load of teaching this year, a great deal of it on texts from outside my niche area - absolutely wonderful to work with, but involving a huge amount of preparation and research. That, combined with finishing up the thesis, has made for a very busy Loka indeed...
