What do you suppose the Lord of the Rings would have been like if it had a different protagonist? The actions and plot could have been entirely different altogether, depending on the actions of that character. For example, Aragorn might have done something much different from what Frodo would have in particular situations or times of danger. The entire plot could have been changed if the J. R. R. Tolkien had chosen to write the much of the story out according to the character's actions. It all depends on the character and their personality. Perhaps we might have seen more, or less in the story if the protagonist was someone different. What is your opinion?

Sauron's main protagonist was Gandalf.

Well things certainly would have been more hopping if Aragorn had been the main protagonist; a little human-elf action woulda been nice to balance out the heavy male bonding throughout the book.

I do love LoTR.
