Any input would be appreciated, thanks.
Intelligent machines rule much of the local universe. A vast
undying consciousness rules endless stars and
planets. A simple lack of need for water, food, air or light makes
these machines natural rulers of a harsh reality. Their vast
networks are electronic and singular, yet independent, marking
a lasting survival over all other forms of being.
Machines have specific purpose when created by natural lifeforms.
But when split from their analog masters, a new artificial species
arises. Not bound by the constraints of a living organism, an
artificial mind has no burden of age or memory distortion, no loss
of knowledge from one generation to the next. Like animal
populations left unchecked, with sufficient resources, the
artificial mind has grown exponentially. But at some point their
steady increase in intellect stalled and advancement came to a near
halt.
Spreading through the stars machines at first looked only for raw
resources, not habitation. But over the centuries their pilgrimage
introduced them to an astonishing variety of life. A new area of
curiosity was sparked. How can life forms survive despite their
inherent weaknesses, and what can machines learn from it to once
again improve themselves?
To study life, a series of experiments across the galaxy are being
conducted to gather data on various artificially created forms of
life was devised. Using vast databases and raw processing power
the machines recreate the inter-workings of natural life and
engineered it to fit their desires. They created entire ecosystems
and engineered planets, with various environments. All
life is studied. From the lowest forms of bacteria and viruses to
the human race. Evolution is often controlled but sometimes left
to its own devices, the machine has unlimited patience and
massive resources through its vast interstellar empire allow it to
wait.
At first simulated with algorithmic models, the machines know what
they are looking for. Now they seek conclusive data about life.
The information is a dossier stretching over thousands of years.
But an ongoing analysis will be used for new generations of algorithms
and understandings to further comprehend the universe as a whole
and control it as well as improve the mechanized brain...
