I shall preface this by saying that poetry is not my thing, but I rarely attempt it for a bit of fun:

Taciturnity for Eternity (12/18/2014)

Taciturnity for eternity
Brought on by maternity
An STD: for you and for me
Memories just a memory

Left catatonic and less than laconic
No more relationships of the Platonic

Back to the station, done with the vacation
No more actions to put into implementation

Emotions erased, and all one’s goals displaced
Your friends will remember until you’re replaced

Always encroaching and still ever approaching
This subject which we have been broaching

Final breath, then death
The end of the breadth

Burning the Love Candle (10/4/2014)

Grab them tight with your glove.
Hold on to the one you love.

Try your best to make it last.
Don’t let the present become the past.
Yet, soon an end comes to your grasp.

How has one failed this mission?
Strictly of your own volition.

You squeezed so tight the love evaporated.
Destroyed all that had previously been stated.

The candle was burned twice as bright.
Now there is no more candlelight.

All you hold is an empty glass
that once contained your precious lass.

Who is responsible for the kill?
Not them, but simply your own flawed will.

So don’t hold tight…
or the one you love is who you’ll fight.

Time and time you’ll crash and burn.
…and yet I think you’ll never learn.

Let them time to be free.
And then I think you’ll finally see.

Love can last in moderation.
But give up on instant gratification.

Give this resource time to renew.
Or else you two will be through.

So keep this thoroughly ingrained…
to avoid the relationship becoming strained.

To my advice you’re disinclined.
But you should really keep this in mind.

The one that you hold on too strong.
They will not stick around for long.

The one that you let get away.
That’s the one that will truly stay.
