Overflowing
Forgive my hand this twitch
That I may dare to write
These lines, in beauty owing.
I do but scratch an itch
For word and rhyme and form
That has been lately growing.
What can I ever say,
Or how hope to convey
That my heart is overflowing?
Edit: I first posted this poem to another site a long while ago. I modified it before posting it here to correct some of what I think were weaknesses in it. The original post is on a poetry group on Shelfari (for some reason I'm not allowed to add a link to this post).
I'm posting this edit for 2 reasons
1) I don't want to be accused of plagiarizing what is in fact my own writing.
2) I would appreciate people's feedback on the other version, too (if someone can help me add a link to it)
