I had lost before I knew you —
private words. Hunted for
past dawn, they clung like rainwater
to speechless lips. Then
the roar of silence struck
and morning, orange, billowed up.
Stormclouds trapped between blue hills
crept slowly towards the glittering ocean,
to a love that lay beyond the touch
of hands amazed and clutching a little fog.
