View Full Version : Intellectual Nomadism
I roam and I wander
Following the steps
Of those great minds
Who left their traces
For me to go behind
I know this is too brief
To make an elaborate poem
I only want to say
How I feel today
And to use the expression I took
From a beautful book

Agave
Like a proud knight
Agave holds his sword
Bringing day and night
Like a mighty peace lord
Read and understand
His message given to all
I live in many colored land
I am a being, not a doll

I enjoyed both of these. The sounds pulled me back to them searching for meaning. I think of agave as a plant and so the meaning of the second is still unclear. Also I liked the slant rhyme of "all" with "doll" in the second one.

Thank you, YesNo. The meaning of the second is (as the main title says) going from one to another, like a nomad, lead by an intellecutal need to discover and learn. From people to other kinds of beings in the world. It is, also, a kind of question. Are plants conscious beings? I have read about it and noticed, myself, that they might be.

On rereading it, it makes sense now. The agave is like a brave knight. I agree with you that plants respond to their environment and probably even have a first person consciousness associated with this response. A machine responds to its environment as well through its design or programming, but I don't think there is a first person consciousness associated with that response.

Three faces in a hood
They say it should be your name
Viola tricolor
Is latin meaning almost the same
What to tell more
So tender, so sweet
Maybe you prefer to stand
In someone's garden, or wisely to sit
Learn and understand
