Quimissung put up this post a couple of years ago:

"Christmas ghost stories have long been a part of the festive Christmas season. Just ask Charles Dickens. Now is your time to show that you can write a Christmas ghost story as delightful or creepy as one by Sheridan Le Fanu, Algernon Blackwood or Ambrose Bierce. It is in you, you know it is!

Please submit to me by December 15, which will leave us one week to vote. The stories should be between 2000-2500 words long. Your entry should remain anonymous. Should you reveal yourself or post your story elsewhere on the site, you will be removed from the contest. Once the contest is over, you are free to post your story and reveal yourself as the author.

I look forward to your entries, so get to writing, and let's get scared!"

I would like to do another contest this year. I am new here and don't know who organises this kind of thing.

Good idea! But I am not sure how it is going to be possible to keep posts anonymous. Is the idea that we create a new username that we write under, one that says nothing about who we are?

I am trying to work that out too. It could be good if they were posted anonymously and we could all vote for whose story is the best.

The poetry contests start a new contest in a thread and give people some time to post something. When the time is up, the person creating the theme judges the contest and the winner organizes the next contest.

It is a chicken-egg sort of thing.
