MANICHAEAN

“Marmaduke P. Thornbush Carruthers, prolific writer for Lit Net Forums under the nom de plume “Manichaean,” passed away peacefully on his bar stool in Yokohama yesterday. It is believed he died of natural causes, yet to be confirmed when the drinks bill is settled and the body released from the Hard Rock Cafe to the coroner.
“Mani” as he was known to many of his friends was an accomplished bigimist, prolific alcoholic, accomplished traveller and a hard act to follow. His contribution to English Literature in the form of the short stories he wrote is hard to define. There was invariably no structure to them and they ranged in subject matter from the deadly serious to the most frivilous. Yet occasionally a spark of originality was forthcoming, which may yet be appreciated by the Booker Prize Committee now that he has passed on.
Initial internment, along with an Irish wake will be at the Horse & Groom Chapel of Rest in Hatfield U.K, pending permission to have his final remains placed in Westminister Abbey between Charles Dickens and King George III.”
