I just registered to the forum and I need some good quality brainstorm about a short story. Its "The Egg" by Sherwood Anderson. So let's start.. :)

It was written around 1920 so it did not have the depression in the background, but regarding the misfortunes of the family it might as well have had. I liked some of the sentences such as this one about philosophers:


Most philosophers must have been raised on chicken farms. One hopes for so much from a chicken and is so dreadfully disillusioned

I enjoyed the way the parents of the narrator supported each other.
