Time to yarn bomb
Jacarandas with splashes
Of vibrant colour
By street cafes
That emanate
Freshly baked
Apple muffins
And ground coffee
It wafts through
Musical wind chimes
And dream catchers
Reminding us
What it is
To laugh
Run about
And shout
‘You’re it!’

Let’s play hands of Fish
And make silly sounds
Patience where there is none
Since we both know
Our time will run out.
Shout ‘Snap!’ when the
Pairs don’t match.
Soon we will both lie still
Among the weeds
And the daisies.

Loved them both equally Delta. Felt like a change in style for you. I did of course enjoy the underlying darkness particularly in "Countdown". Envious that you are going into spring also whilst our leaves are falling.

I like both of these, Delta, but I do feel they could both be improved a bit. I have a bit of a problem with "Spring" as it reads as though apple muffins and ground coffee are spilling out through the doors of the street cafes! In "Countdown" a change in line order and the insertion of commas might help.
"Let’s play hands of Fish,
patience, where there is none,
and make silly sounds,
Since we both know
Our time will run out.
Shout ‘Snap!’ when the
Pairs don’t match."
Just a suggestion.

I enjoyed them both, the reminding us in the first and the lying still in the second.

I agree that the second piece has a dark undertow. It was hard not to think of the notorious American political commercial from 1964 with the little girl picking daisies amid an ominous v.o. of a countdown.
The first one is more cheerful, obviously. I often wonder about springtime in the Antipodes and somehow am under the impression that the weather is one reason some old folks decide not to retire to Florida. They say they would "miss the change in seasons." Way up here our welcome to spring usually ( before climate change) comes after a seemingly endless winter. Wish you could see the gorgeous colors of fall up close and personal!
Your postings are always a bright spot in the NitLet universe, Delta.

Thanks for your comments everyone.
I don't think I will make the suggested changes Hawk but as you know, I value your advice always.
Auntie I would love to see the US in fall. A friend and I are discussing a US holiday which is rather exciting.

I didnt see Countdown so dark as we should not be so bound to the 'rules' of life's game before we die.
