There is a concept held by some in Church teaching, that it is not so much what God commands, as what he allows.
Thus in recognizing human fraility, He grants an element of latitude.
It brings to mind a quote from Churchill, namely " I am quite prepared to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared to meet me is another matter."

Surely, his most important command was to, "go forth and multiply," that liberal quote from Gen. 9:7. I find it astonishing how few rich and beautiful women are prepared to cooperate. I put it down to a general decline in religious observance ;)

Was it St Paul who urged one to "take a little wine for thy stomach's sake?"

By speading the word among the opposite sex, your evangilising fervour might bear fruit.

You must be a devotee of that minor deity, Michael Flanders! "Have some Madeira, m'dear!"
