The newlyweds, Jack and Diane, were enjoying Day 4 of their Hawaiian honeymoon. In planning the trip, they had decided that they would not only visit "main" Hawaii, but also "other" Hawaii. So today they were spending the day on one of the smaller islands, the name of which they could not remember.
It was lunchtime, and Jack had a thought.
"Ooh, honey," he said. "You know what we haven't done yet? We should get one of those authentic Hawaiian pizzas."
"Good idea!" Diane replied. "I'm so hungry!"
"I wonder where the best place to get one is?"
Jack began looking up and down the street.
Diane noticed a small souvenir stand nearby, being manned by a dark-skinned fellow wearing a Hawaiian shirt. He had a lei around his neck and was nonchalantly waiting for some business.
"Ooh, honey," said Diane. "Let's ask that guy. He would probably know."
They crossed the street and approached him.
"Afternoon folks," the man said, smiling brightly. "What can we send you home with?"
"Hello sir," said Diane. "What is YOUR name?"
"Sam."
"Sam! What is THAT short for?"
"Samuel."
Jack spoke up.
"We don't need any more souvenirs right now but we were hoping you could tell us where to get one of your pizzas. The best place."
"Sure can," said Sam, no longer smiling quite as much.
He pointed down the sidewalk.
"There's a great place right there, right past the Littlest Volcano."
Jack and Diane looked, and could see that about a block and a half away, there was a miniature volcano about the size of a fire hydrant. It had safety rails around it, but was still open to the sky. You could practically stick your head in.
"What IS that?" Jack asked.
"It's a volcano, of course!" Sam replied.
"You mean a real one?"
"Yep. Smallest in the whole world."
Jack was skeptical.
"Has it ever erupted?" he asked.
"Nope, not yet."
"Can we jiggle it or something to see what happens?"
"That's really frowned upon."
"How about throwing a penny in?"
"Against the rules, but everybody does it anyway."
"Honey!" said Diane. "Let's go SEE it!."
"Yeah okay," said Jack. "We can take pics at least."
Diane reached for her phone, excited. Jack reached for his as well.
"Thanks a lot Sam," he said, extending his hand. "You've been really helpful."
"No problem," he replied.
"Yeah, thank you SO much!" Diane chimed in.
Everybody shook hands, and Sam smiled brightly once again.
"You folks have a nice honeymoon."
Jack and Diane, excited, fidgeted with their phones and began to walk down the sidewalk at a brisk pace.
"Hey honey, what's ON a Hawaiian pizza anyway?" Diane wondered, audibly. "Can you get extra cheese? Cause if so, I think I want that."
