Shakespeare had his The Hundred Merry Tales (or Merry Tales and Quick Answers) as well as influence from Plautus and such.

What are some good joke books/humorous anecdote books now for writers, especially playwrights? I don't mean in terms of the general plot of the play, but inspiration for some scenes or dialogue or wordplay that can be inserted for flavor.

- Is it true that the minute of laughter prolongs life for 5 minutes? - Well, it depends on whom you laugh ... and can reduce
