Screenplay or short story

hi,

When i take the dog for a walk with music, in my head I think up a story and each time I take the dog out I add extra information to it, I put it into a screenplay app but I don't intent to sell it, just want to write it down for fun, I was wondering if its better to write it as a short story, any advice will be helpful

Given that a screenplay and a short story bear little resemblance to each other and require vastly differently writing skills - I would go with whichever you know more about.

I don't know how to write a screenplay on a plain document I need the app to help me but I'm reading a book on how to write a short story and the techniques the author is saying like "write on post it notes, daydream, things you seen around you, fits on what I want to do and since I don't know both of them and since you said they both resemblance each other I'm going to go for the short story
