Hello, I have an assignment, which was to basically to read The Absolutely True Diary Of a Part-Time Indian, which i did, and develop a thesis on my topic, and make a show (like a youtube video) based around that thesis. And well my topic is : "The effects of poverty", but i can't really find a thesis on it, because I'm really stressed out. I came up with a thesis statement, but I don't think it's good, My thesis is : The effects of poverty can make it difficult to achieve your goals in life.
Can you please tell me if it's a good thesis statement? if not, then what I have to improve on.
That'll be great, thank you.

I agree that the thesis isn't good. Real poverty undermines basic needs: you don't get enough to eat, you end up homeless,... So stating that it makes it "difficult to achieve your goals in life" seems a very weak thesis in the light of starvation and death through exposure. In looking at a summary of "the Absolutely True Diary Of a Part-Time Indian" I'm wondering if it can support a thesis on poverty. Is the "part-time Indian" actually starving? From reading the following summary there seem to be strong themes of loss, isolation, and exclusion:

But is poverty really a problem for this character?

If you want to read a novel which highlights poverty try "The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists" by Robert Tressell.
