Having seen Samuel Beckett's manuscript for Murphy at the University of Reading, I have realised that I have not read much of Beckett's prose - apart from a couple of short stories.

On checking the web, there are several novels and short story collections around.

So, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a book/collection to start with, please?

I started with Murphy many years ago and moved on to the Trilogy and am reading How It Is these days. I had read most of his plays before I started reading prose. I enjoy his prose more.

The Complete Short Prose is a brilliant compilation and a great starting point for Beckett's prose.

Thank you for the recommendations. I found my library had ream of Fair to Middling Women - so I have started there. It's one part Joyce, one part Beckett, one part Hemmingway and possibly Trocchi.
