Heart of the Hawk
The hawk takes flight
as a dream
and I am grounded
while I watch
yet it is he who balances me,
gives me a center,
it is like a cord binds us
his flight above
keeps me from falling
too far below.
But too soon
he begins to fade
becoming
lost with the wind
for he must always
journey with his heart,
though he knows
that here he will
have a home
for an eternity.
