Mary and Elizabeth were sitting in their university classroom and listening to a lecture.

'Orion constellation is here, the northern sky. It is very bright.' said the professor, pointing to a certain place of the star map on the wall.

Mary leaned a bit towards Elizabeth and whispered: 'Our professor is very handsome, today. Isn't he?'

Elizabeth nodded and smiled. And the professor talked.

'The neighboring constellations are Eridanus, Gemini, Lepus, Monoceros and Taurus.'

When the lecture was over, two friends walked home talking about what they had just heard, discussing this and that.

John, their student friend, suddenly stood in front of them preventing them to walk ahead. The girls burst into laughter, Mary gave him a light smack on his head.

'Move away, John! Why haven't you been at the lecture?' She asked.

'Oh, I had to drive my parents to the airport. They flew to Crete.'

John was exceptionally tall and strong young man. He kept twining around the girls as if cuddling them. It seemed that he was in love with both of them. The girls took turns in retelling him the entire lecture.

'Rigel is the brightest star in the constellation.' Said Mary.

'Rigel is really a star system composed of three stars.' Added Elizabeth.'

Finally, the three of them sat in a small caffee, where the story about Orion constellation was completed.

'Hello, girl.' Said an older man and approached their table.

Mary smiled at him.

'Hello, daddy. What are you doing here?'

'I was passing by and then I saw you. Would you like me to drive you home?' He asked his daughter. Mary accepted and invited Elizabeth to join them, what Elizabeth accepted with pleasure.

John was left alone, he sat there for a while and then stood up to go home. He wanted to get drunk and take courage to go to one of the girls in the evening to take them out. But, then he changed his mind. Mary's father seemed too serious to him. And Elizabeth's parents, he recalled, were too curious. They would probably invite him for a dinner and then he would be forced to behave like a wooden doll - just to smile and keep nodding in an approval of whatever the subject of discussion might be.

Therefore, he took his cell phone and called his friend George, who also had not been at the lecture that day, so John wanted to retell him what he had been told by Mary and Elizabeth.

George's mother was a stout woman, but kind and dear. She opened the door of her flat to John, and tenderly fondled his hair while he was entering.

'Come in, dear. Tell us this fascinating story.' George had, obviously, told his mother what was going to be done that evening.

After an elaborate retelling of what he had been told, John concluded.

'Major stars in Orion are Rigel, Betelgeuse, Bellatrix, Mintaka , Alnitak, Saiph, Hatsya...'

On his way back home, John looked to the clear sky and winked as if saying 'hello' to the old fellow Orion chasing a bull - the Taurus constellation - for eternity.

You have a unique style that I find appealing. Simple sentences, simple dialogue and yet hints of things much more complex beneath the surface. I would almost say that this lies somewhere between prose and poetry. I hope to read more of your writing here.
