Our relationship climaxed to the dew point
A tempest mounted our horizon
From the eery silence blew winds of change
The sound waves of thunderous arguments
bellowed; the shock waves from ungrounded poles
echoed through the permeable membranes
of our tattered, worn psyche's
Before gray doubts could burst into fears,
your fragile, flighty soul
fled to a balmier clime,
soaring above the ominous clouds
sheltering in the rarefied bosom
of fledgling, fleeting fantasies,
leaving a tree with tender limbs
to twist and sway in the storm
Torrents of rejection flowed
through my unremitting ducts
flooding my soul's deep reservoir
An unrequited pool of anger crested,
while the run-off dredged up sediments,
chiseled memories from our love,
funneled them into the interstices of
my mind, filtering the endearing moments,
then turning them into gangrenous disks
After months of the assaulting tempest,
the downpour molted into forlorn sprinkles
My shivering spine began to stiffen,
