For the first time in my life I was inspired to write. No editing was done, just thought I'd see what people thought.

It was a warm breezy summer night, the moon had begun it's ascent into the already darkened sky. A boy and girl, both about high school age sat in two swings side by side at a small neighborhood park. There was silence between the couple, for there was not much to be said between them; rather they both understood one another without the aid of verbal communication. The boy stood up and took the girl by the hands, he pulled her to her feet and they were peering into each others eyes. It was finally the girl who broke the deep silence. "There is something coming between us..." She remarked followed by a sigh. The boy thought for a moment before replying, and finally said, "I know I've been thinking the same for quite awhile now, I feel as if there is something you aren't telling me." The girl let's his statement slowly sink in, wondering how they might save their relationship. With a quick change of subject she points to a spot under a small tree and says, "do you remember our first kiss, it was right under that tree" trailing off she mutters, "I wish we could go back." The boy looks over to the spot and continues to stare at it for several moments, thoughts race through his mind. He thinks of all his fond memories with the girl but he knows it no longer would work. Parts of both of them had moved on and they feelings the shared weren't the same as before. He missed the way she would tightly hug him, and look up at him waiting to kiss her. He missed her wonderful laughter that couldn't help but bring a smile to his face. He finally says what they both have been thinking, "it just can't be the same anymore." A year forms in her eye, because she knows what he has said is true. She asks, "why can't we just go back, why can't things be the way they were before?" Even before she finishes saying this she knows what the answer is. They both had changed so much and now he was leaving for the summer. They begin to walk and cross through a small path into the girls neighborhood. They slowly and deliberately make their way upto her house and then to her front porch. She tightly wraps her arms around the boy, and he hugs her back. They stand there for several moments. The girl finally pulls back her head enough to look into the boys eyes. His once steady gaze is now fleeting and troubled. He says, "I wish it wasn't this way my dear, you once were my whole world and even now you mean so much to me." He paused struggling to find the right words, when nothing came to mind, he finished by saying, "I guess this is goodbye" he let the words linger in the air before he bent down and kissed her she kissed back taking in every second of it. Their bodies separated he looked into her eyes once more before turning away making his way down to his truck that was parked in the drive. He wanted to look back but refused to because of the tears that had gathered in his eyes. He pulled open the door, started it up, and drove off. The radio had come on when he started the truck, but now as the songs switched he realized he was listening to their song, he reached out to turn it off but stopped himself, he decided to let it play through. More tears glazed his eyes, the tears turned into silent sobs that shook his whole frame. The moon was high up in the sky at this time. The girl sat in her room looking through old photos the couple had shared. She too was crying, all the memories flooded through her with a new wave of aggression that tore her up. She longed to be in his arms for him to comfort her, he had always been there for her, but now he had left her feeling dark and alone. They both had words left unsaid, feelings not explained. The boy had made his way to a gas station and was pulling out his wallet to retrieve his credit card so that he might pay for the gas. He took out the credit card and was placing it back in the wallet when something caught his eye. He remembered it to be a letter he had written her almost a year ago. It said how happy she made him and how he would never let her go. As he read through the letter he knew he had to go back if only to give it to her. He started back down the road he had come from. The girl was still shuffling through photos and other keepsakes when she pulled out a letter he had given her, it told her how much he cared for her and how much she meant to him, he wrote that he was the luckiest guy. At the bottom of the page after his signature there was a couple of lines of writing, that read, "I have a confession, there is another letter which I have written but am waiting for the right time. Please my dear never forget how much I care about you" she sat silently wondering about that letter she had never received. Finally she could no longer take it, she grabbed her phone and pulled up his contact and selected call. The boy was sitting at a stoplight waiting for it to turn green, he was studying the moon it was so perfectly round and clear on this night. His phone began ringing he looked down and saw it was her. He picked up the phone cleared his throat then answered "hello"
She let out a soft, "hey" now wondering why she'd made the call and became worried. The boy said, "look I'm heading back to your house right now I need to give you something and we need to talk." A wave of relief and emotion flooded over the girl, she replied, "I'm glad I really need to talk with you too, I need to tell you something." The boy was staring at the letter that sat in the seat next to him, he wasn't paying attention. As he looked up he could see an oncoming pair of headlights but it was to late to react. The impact of the collision killed him he was thrown from the vehicle the phone still clenched in his hand. The girl could hear commotion going on the other end of the line. She asked him what was going on and got no reply she kept trying to get a response but nothing would come. She started screaming and the line went dead. She quickly threw on some shoes and ran outside she could hear sirens in the distance. And she started running towards them as quickly as her feet would carry her, she had been running about 10 minutes when she arrived there were flashing lights and sirens and then she saw him. He lay in the street illuminated by the moon perfectly light up for her to see. Panic welled up inside of her. She ran over and sat there by his body silently crying. She wish she could'be told him how she really felt, she wished she would told him she loved him even if he didn't love her back. A gust of wind now rose and the letter which had been in the truck floated out a hole in the windshield and was carried her direction it stopped once it hit her foot, she looked down and saw it and picked it up. Right away she could tell it was his handwriting. She began reading with quick searching eyes. He started by saying how happy she makes him and the likes. When she arrived at the last paragraph she stuttered in her reading. It read, "I already know I love you and I am waiting for the right time to tell you, I will work through anything with you, you're worth any struggle, any pain, or any obstacle put in front of me. You're my everything. I want you to know I love you with all my heart. I love you to the moon and back." She folded the letter and placed it in her lap. She felt so lost and alone, and realized she had been sobbing. She looked up through her tears at the moon it was so full and bright on this summer night. It was perfect...
